Hands & Voices is a private not-for-profit program funded
by United Way. Our mission is to provide a variety of support
services to families of children who have been recently diagnosed
as deaf or hard of hearing. We also provide a variety of services
to families who have known of their child's hearing loss for
some time.
MN
Hands & Voices staff are parents of children who have hearing
loss. We share the same emotions, decisions and questions as
the families we serve. Rather than representing themselves as
experts, our staff keeps abreast of who the experts are and
how to access their knowledge. Our staff is committed to providing
a balanced look at raising a child who is deaf or hard of hearing.
Families who have chosen to not use amplification, chosen to
obtain a cochlear implant, who sign, cue, or use oral language
are all respected and supported. It is our strong belief that
the parents know what is best for their child. Parents simply
need enough information to make sound, informed choices.
Founded
in 1948 as St. Paul Rehabilitation Center, Lifetrack
Resources provides employment and rehabilitation services,
including speech and physical therapy.
