Troubleshooting
Your Hearing Aid

Earmold
or hearing aid not fitting properly: Have earmold modified
(high spots buffed) or have new earmold made.

Development
of middle or outer ear infection: See family doctor
or ear specialist.

Earmold
or hearing aid not inserted properly:
Gently press the earmold in until it fits snugly. If problem
persists, see your audiologist.

Earmold
or hearing aid does not fit properly: Have a new earmold
made. Check with your audiologist.

Excess
ear wax has accumulated: Have excess ear wax removed by
qualified medical personnel.

Tubing
is too short, tubing is cracked or punctured: Have earmold
tubing changed. See hearing aid dispenser.
-
Hearing
aid case is broken: See hearing aid dispenser. Hearing
aid should be recased.
Weak
Signal or have to use hearing aid at full volume

Weak
Battery: Insert fresh battery

Earmold/hearing
aid is partially clogged with wax: Remove wx from earmold/hearing
aid.

Tubing Twisted: Make sure tubing is straight, not twisted,
when earmold is in place.

Excess
wax build up in ear canal: See family doctor or ENT specialist.

Hearing
has become worse: See your audiologist if you suspect
hearing has gotten worse.

Defective
mike or mike opening is clogged: See hearind aid dispenser.

Hearing
aid has been exposed to excessively cold weather: Let
hearing aid warm to room temperature naturally, do not expose
it to heat.
No
Sound Amplification (dead hearing aid)

Dead
battery: Insert fresh battery.

Battery
is in backwards: insert battery properly.
-
Tel-mike
switch is in the tel-position: Switch to mike position.
-
Earmold
is clogged with wax: clean earmold and remove wax.
-
Tubing
is filled with water from cleaning: Dry carefully with
a pipe cleaner or forced air, after detaching earmold from
aid, or put silicagel with aid at night.
-
Corroded
battery contacts: clean battery contacts or have hearing
aid dispenser do it.
-
Internal
defect in hearing aid: See hearing aid dispenser for repair
of aid if under five years old. If more than five years old,
see audiologist about a new hearing aid.

Twisted
Tubing: Take the hearing aid off and reinsert the earmold
making sure that the tubing is straight when the earmold is
in place.
-
Hearing
aid may have water inside if exposed to rain or worn in bath,
shower or swimming: Remove and dry earmold/hearing aid.
Let hearing aid dry for a day or two by placing aid in Dri-aid
kit, or place silicagel with aid in closed container. See
hearing aid dispenser if problems persist.
Distortion
or background noise

Internal
defect in hearing aid: See hearing aid dispenser for repair
of aid if under 5 years old. If more that 5 years old, see
audiologist.

Dust
in Switch: Move swithces back and forth. If not successful,
see hearing aid dispenser for cleaning.

Change
in hearing: See your audiologist.
